Job Title: BuyerJob Description

This role is responsible for managing end-to-end purchasing activities to support production and operational requirements. The position involves ensuring material availability through effective use of MRP, executing purchase orders, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. The buyer will drive cost, delivery, and inventory performance, supporting both day-to-day transactional purchasing and strategic sourcing initiatives.

ResponsibilitiesAnalyze MRP demand, inventory levels, and production schedules to create, place, and manage purchase orders.Monitor order confirmations, delivery schedules, and supplier commitments; expedite or defer orders as required to support production needs.Maintain accurate purchasing, pricing, and lead-time data within the ERP system.Communicate proactively with suppliers regarding order status, discrepancies, non-conforming material, and routine follow-ups.Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms to support cost reduction and service objectives.Support new product development and engineering changes by sourcing components, obtaining quotes, and managing initial orders.Manage supplier relationships in collaboration with Quality and Engineering to ensure quality, capacity, and performance expectations are met.Monitor supplier performance metrics, identify risks, and support corrective actions as needed.Identify and qualify alternate or secondary sources for critical components to mitigate supply risk.Support supplier returns and resolution of quality or delivery issues.Assist with inventory accuracy through cycle counts, root cause analysis, and year-end physical inventory activities.Track and report cost savings, material risks, and supply constraints to supply chain leadership.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support purchasing best practices.Essential SkillsUnderstanding of purchasing, MRP, inventory management, and basic cost analysis.Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy.Effective supplier negotiation and vendor management capabilities.Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems (Macola preferred).Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.Problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Working knowledge of standard purchasing procedures and best practices.Additional Skills & Qualifications2+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.APICS/ASCM certification a plus but not required.Work Environment

This position is based in an office environment within a family-oriented company with a long-standing history. The role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative setting with a track record of successful CTH conversion rates.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Folsom, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
