Job Title: Contract Specialist Job Description The Subcontract Specialist will support the Light Capabilities stream of the LVM Logistic Vehicle Modernization program. This role involves sourcing and coordinating thousands of smaller components from multiple suppliers, acting as the link between suppliers, the program team, scheduling, engineering design, and purchasing execution. The position is a one-year contract with the possibility of extension or growth into other roles. Responsibilities + Source new commodities such as mini-home components, flexible electrical systems, furniture, structural/metal work, and off-the-shelf items. + Work with pre-vetted and new suppliers, support onboarding and qualification. + Participate in contract negotiations, review payment status, lead times, and supplier performance. + Support pricing negotiations, delivery timelines, and supplier performance improvements. + Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers for new items entering the program. + Communicate with buyers when purchase orders need to be issued. + Follow up to ensure delivery dates and purchasing execution align with schedule requirements. + Ensure sourced items meet engineering requirements and specifications. + Provide suppliers with engineering drawings, BOMs, material requirements, and functional specifications. + Engage in technical discussions to ensure full supplier understanding and compliance. + Prepare reports and findings for leadership groups. + Maintain detailed spreadsheets, track progress, and organize communication professionally. + Use Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for reporting and updates. + Communicate clearly and concisely with internal stakeholders. Essential Skills + 2+ years of experience in purchasing and/or sourcing. + Experience in a manufacturing environment. + Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. + Excellent communication skills, especially with external suppliers and during negotiations. + Strong command of English. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in the defense sector. + Bilingual (English/French). + Experience with specific environments or systems. + Experience in contracts and negotiation. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Resourcefulness and problem-solving mindset. + High accountability and ownership. + Strong organizational skills. + Team-oriented, collaborative attitude. Work Environment This position operates within a collaborative team structure, including sourcing agents, supply chain team members, and bid specialists. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON.
