Job Description
Join a dynamic team as a Buyer responsible for managing purchasing decks within the Service Parts for a leading automotive service division. You will engage in post-production activities with a focus on indirect or direct services, negotiating contracts, and managing programs. This role involves heavy project-based work and market testing to secure the best value for the company.
Responsibilities
+ Manage purchasing of goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
+ Support the purchasing function and communicate any supply problems that may impact business operations.
+ Act as an interface between suppliers and relevant departments for purchasing processes and new projects.
+ Monitor and advise on issues presenting risks or opportunities to the organization.
+ Analyze costs, review cost reduction activities, and monitor market trends and competitor strategies.
+ Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms with suppliers, and seek opportunities for business savings.
+ Build and maintain supplier relationships and ensure effective communication.
+ Conduct research for new components and suppliers and compile data for supplier performance evaluation.
+ Resolve supplier shortages, past-due situations, and any issues with price, quality, delivery, or invoices.
+ Update and maintain commodity strategies and work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates.
+ Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.
+ Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.
+ Review open vehicles off-road (VOR) and backorders on a weekly basis to expedite parts delivery.
Essential Skills
+ 4+ years of recent experience in purchasing and buying commodities within the automotive industry.
+ Strong program management background.
+ Proven experience in packaging negotiations and driving cost savings.
+ Experience with SAP and intermediate Excel knowledge (80% proficiency or higher).
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Bachelor's Degree completed.
+ Strong negotiation skills.
Work Environment
This position requires onsite work in Dearborn for 4 days per week, which may increase to 5 days based on leadership decisions. The work schedule is 40 hours per week, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with a hard start and end time. Employees must work 8 hours each day with a 1-hour unpaid lunch around noon.

This is a Contract position based out of Allen Park, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $50.00/hr.
