Job Title: Purchasing Specialist

Job Description:

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials, components, and services to meet production and operational needs. This role involves negotiating prices, lead times, and terms with suppliers to secure the best value and maintaining purchase orders, contracts, and supplier records within the ERP system.

Responsibilities:

Source and purchase raw materials, components, and services to meet production and operational needs.Negotiate prices, lead times, and terms with suppliers to secure the best value for the company.Issue and maintain purchase orders, contracts, and supplier records within the ERP system.Own KPIs for inventory levels, PPV, inventory turns, and DSOH.Monitor supplier performance and work with vendors to resolve delivery, quality, or service issues.Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality to ensure purchased materials meet specifications and quality standards.Track and maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages and minimize excess.Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to support long-term supply chain stability.Stay informed on industry trends, cost drivers, and supply chain risks that could impact material availability.Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable quality standards (ISO 9001/AS9100).Provide regular updates and reports on purchasing activities to management.Establish stocking programs.Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in aerospace or manufacturing.Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor; Made2Manage experience a plus).Strong negotiation, vendor management, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of Inventory Management Principles.Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on supplier performance and cost impact.Strong Excel skills.High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

ASCM Certification (APIC) preferred.Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 standards is preferred.Global sourcing experience preferred - familiarity with tariffs.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site position with working hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with flexibility provided. The role reports to the Director of Supply Chain and works alongside the Director of Operations and a Planner.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $36.06/hr.
