Business Unit Controller
Description Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Business Unit Controller to oversee and manage the financial health of our business unit. This role is critical in providing strategic financial guidance, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting operational decision-making through insightful analysis. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills with business acumen to drive performance and accountability within the unit. Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Analysis Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes for the business unit Analyze financial performance and variances, and provide actionable recommendations Partner with operations and leadership to align financial goals with business objectives Reporting & Compliance Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements Support external and internal audits as needed Cost Control & Efficiency Monitor and manage cost structures, margins, and profitability Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements Implement financial controls and best practices across the business unit Business Support & Decision-Making Act as a financial advisor to business unit leaders Provide insights into business performance and investment opportunities Support pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and capital expenditure planning Team Leadership Lead and develop a team of accounting clerks Foster a culture of continuous improvement and financial discipline Requirements • Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting within a business unit or similar role. • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. • Proficiency in month-end close procedures and balance sheet reconciliation. • Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements and KPI reporting. • Demonstrated ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements. • Excellent leadership and team development skills with the ability to foster collaboration and accountability. • Advanced proficiency in financial software and analytical tools. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across teams and present financial insights.
