Profile / Requirement Document – BOND Accounting and record keeping BUSINESS ANALYST
Role Overview
The Business Analyst will work on projects involving US government and private bond issuance, TA operations, and in general fixed-income accounting platforms. The role focuses on platform implementation, system migration, and transformation initiatives, bridging business needs with technical solutions while ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
Location
US Domestic with data restrictions contained within US Borders.
Remote
But may need to travel for occasional client meetings
Core Responsibilities
Elicit, document, and validate business requirements for bond issuance, TA functions, and accounting workflows.
Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications and process flows.
Support platform implementation, data migration, and transformation initiatives including testing and assurance requirements spec.
Liaise between business stakeholders, IT, and vendors.
Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and testing.
Ensure compliance with US financial regulations (SEC, MSRB, IRS, etc.).
Facilitate UAT and coordinate change management activities.
Necessary Skills & Qualifications (Essential)
Technical & Domain Knowledge
Good understanding of US Government Bonds (Treasury, Municipal) and Private Bonds (corporate, asset-backed).
Experience with bond lifecycle: issuance, trade capture, settlement, corporate actions, maturity, redemption.
Solid knowledge of bond accounting principles (premium/discount amortization, accruals, interest expense recognition).
Experience in accounting platform or ledger system implementation and migration.
Knowledge of data mapping, reconciliation, and validation techniques for financial data.
Understanding of relevant regulations (SEC, MSRB, IRS 1099 reporting, GAAP).
Business Analysis Skills
Requirements gathering & documentation (BRDs, FRDs, user stories).
Process mapping (AS-IS / TO-BE) and workflow analysis.
Gap analysis and risk/impact assessment.
Strong stakeholder management skills, including with government agencies and financial institutions.
UAT planning, execution, and defect tracking.
Tools & Technologies
Experience with some of the fixed-income systems (e.g., Bloomberg AIM, Murex, Calypso, Broadridge, Aladdin, Finastra, SimCorp Dimension, Eagle, FIS platforms TA / InvestOne / Loanet).
Proficiency in MS Excel, Visio/Lucidchart or any other diagramming software, and SQL for data queries.
Soft Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working with business, operations, technology and multi-vendor teams but coordinating different imperatives to be assimilated into program outcomes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Prior experience with US Government bond auction platforms (TreasuryDirect, FedTrade).
Familiarity with Transfer Agency operations (investor onboarding, recordkeeping, reporting).
Familiarity with private placement processes and documentation (PPM, term sheets).
Knowledge of DTC (Depository Trust Company) and Fedwire settlement processes.
Exposure to SWIFT messaging for securities transactions.
Understanding of IFRS bond accounting in addition to US GAAP.
Hands-on experience with ETL tools or data migration utilities.
Experience with cloud-based financial platforms (AWS, Azure, SaaS-based bond accounting solutions).
Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP, PMI-PBA) or relevant finance qualification (CFA, CPA, CTP).
Experience with agile delivery in financial services transformation projects.
