Role Title: Business Solutions Manager, OMS Europe


Purpose of the Role

Responsible for working within the regional Business Solutions function, applying functional specialisms across Solution Design, Supply Chain Engineering, and Sales Support / Bid Management. Participate in the development and presentation of technical & operational solutions to our customers (prospects and existing) with a particular tactical focus on ‘High Value Target’ customers. Provide subject matter expertise in the solution design area for both customers and internal teams on specific solutions and product functionality. In conjunction with the regional and global Solution Design teams formalize the Solution Design processes, documentation, methodologies, and tools over time to continuously develop our solutions and to ensure globalized consistency of delivery. Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine current and future business requirements and develop a deep understanding of potential improvements / opportunities. Collaborate with key OMS stakeholders (Business Solutions, Business Development, Operations, Implementation) and other regional counterparts to develop new service offerings. Provide coaching/training with the overall objective of constantly improving our regional processes in line with global product strategies.

Reports to: Head of Business Solutions, OMS Europe Direct Reports: None Communicates and coordinates with: All levels of OMS staff in all regions to affect needed change. Other DGF business units in bundled customer offerings. Customers at all levels Third party system providers as applicable  

Key Accountabilities / Roles & Responsibilities / Tasks

Develop compelling and innovative solution proposals that clearly articulate the value that DHL OMS can bring to potential and existing customers. Leverage OMS global systems platform knowledge to create improved ways of working for customers through automation and optimized solutions. Lead process mapping workshops with potential and existing customers to map “As Is” processes and create “To Be” processes aiming at overall supply chain optimization and efficiency. Complete optimization studies in a project type of environment, from data gathering, model setup, through to recommendations development and presentation. Develop and improve tools, procedures and capabilities to meet demands of the business and to reduce the effort required to develop solutions for new and existing business. Provide subject matter expertise and strategic direction to key projects including new customer acquisition, RFI/RFQ/RFP responses, and solution architecture development/documentation. Support Business Development through in person and/or Webex system demo’s; customize the demo environment to address customer pain points or challenges. Develop team members’ knowledge and skillset in all Solution Design functions to ensure competitive solutions are developed and contribute to our growth aspirations. Manage innovations from development through implementation as needed for customer projects. Review, define and implement new processes to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence. Support process enhancements and ensure compliance with global and regional improvement initiatives and standard procedures. Collaborate with implementing new customers and new functionalities for current customers. Document system features and provide guidance and training of these features to other team members. Leverage the competencies of project team members and internal and/or customers resources to enhance project quality and accelerate results.  

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum 10+ years’ experience in Freight Forwarding or Supply Chain Management. Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant business or technical subject. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Visio. Preferred experience competency in ERP / WMS / TMS / Purchase Order Management systems. Retail & Consumer vertical experience desired. Technical knowledge of multimodal international shipping activity (3PL/4PL service types) and associated operational processes. Knowledge of existing and emerging technologies, supply chain tools, processes and practices. Excellent analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills. Strong experience of working with data, analyzing and presenting results. Proven organizational, planning and time management skills. Sensitive to urgency and able to work/keep focus under pressure. Ability to direct large, highly complex interdepartmental projects having strategic business importance. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written (Fluent English required). Assertive and able to influence others, team player, communication, presentation and training skills. Proactive team member with a flexible approach.                              Highly self-motivated.          

Languages

Fluent in English French, German and/or Spanish are a plus

Travel Requirement

Position has a Europe responsibility, which requires moderate travel International Travel (10 - 15% away from job location)
