DESCRIPTION:
At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll support our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer as a Data Analyst III. In this role, you'll transform complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across the organization. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain scalable analytics solutions, create intuitive visualizations, and deliver critical reporting that enhances business performance. Using your expertise in data analysis and visualization tools, you'll identify trends, opportunities, and areas for optimization while ensuring data accuracy and integrity. You'll provide analytics guidance, proactively recommending solutions and improvements based on your findings. This role combines technical expertise with business acumen to deliver impactful insights that support our company's continued growth and success.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Analysis & Problem Solving

Analyze operational issues across order management, inventory, fulfillment, and related processes

Validate operational discussions and assumptions using data from multiple systems

Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and root causes between system data and actual operations

Support issue resolution by providing clear, fact-based insights and recommendations

Planning & Performance Support

Support planning activities (e.g. forecast review, capacity, inventory, or performance planning) with operational data and analysis

Track key operational and planning metrics, identify risks, and highlight potential impacts

Provide analytical support for periodic business reviews and management discussions

Cross-System & Data Analysis

Work with data from multiple systems to ensure consistency, accuracy, and business relevance

Perform hands-on data extraction and validation using SQL, Excel, BI tools, or similar methods

Investigate data discrepancies and clarify system logic with business and IT teams

Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner closely with operations, planning, finance, and IT teams to understand real business needs

Act as a bridge between business users and system/data teams by translating operational questions into analytical requirements

Communicate insights in a clear and practical manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Process Improvement & Enablement

Identify opportunities to improve operational visibility, data usage, and planning effectiveness

Support process improvement initiatives by defining metrics and measuring impact

Contribute to standardization of data definitions, reporting logic, and operating assumptions

REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related role
• Preferred Fields of Study: Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related quantitative field
• Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and advanced Excel
• Strong experience with data visualization, dashboard development, and report automation
• Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and data modeling techniques
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
• Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
• Experience with Python, R, or other programming languages preferred
• Knowledge of data warehouse concepts preferred
• Understanding of data governance and quality management principles
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong business acumen and customer focus
• Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or life sciences industry preferred
