Aston Carter is partnering with a family-owned channel solutions company for a business operations manager role in Oswego, IL. The FP&A Manager is a senior -level operational role responsible for ensuring accuracy, discipline, and insight across internal operations and financial performance. This position owns day-to-day operational execution while providing leadership with clear financial analysis, interpretation, and actionable recommendations.
This role is designed for a highly financially literate professional who can explain what the numbers mean, identify risks and opportunities, and help guide leadership decisions through data-driven insight.
Core Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Execution:
Own and optimize internal office and operational workflows
Oversee trade show execution, budgets, and post-event ROI analysis
Drive accountability across timelines, processes, and deliverables
Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements
Serve as the central operational partner to leadership
Financial Analysis & Strategic Insight:
Prepare and present accurate, timely financial reports and dashboards
Analyze margins, commissions, vendor funding, accruals, and expense trends
Monitor cash flow and working capital dynamics
Conduct variance analysis and identify drivers behind performance shifts
Translate financial data into clear insights and recommended actions
Proactively surface financial risks and opportunities
This role is expected to interpret the data and advise leadership, not simply report results.
Financial Operations & Controls:
Oversee payroll coordination, accounts payable, and expense management
Ensure financial data integrity and documentation discipline
Support annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
Strengthen internal controls and reporting reliability
Administrative & People Operations (Non-Decision Authority):
Oversee onboarding coordination and HR documentation accuracy
Maintain PTO, benefits, and personnel records
Ensure policy compliance and administrative consistency
Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant experience
Strong financial acumen and advanced Excel skills
Adaptable, open to feedback, and comfortable improving existing processes
Someone who can grow with the business and bring fresh perspective in a small, family‑owned environment
Strong financial literacy with FP&A-style analytical experience
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
Experience supporting ownership or executive leadership
High standards for accuracy, organization, and follow-through
Confidence explaining financial trends and implications
Sound judgment, discretion, and accountability
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oswego, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $64.00/hr.
