Contributes to clinic operations by scheduling patient appointments, checking patients in and out, handling cash transactions and providing general clerical support
1. Reviews encounter forms and codes; requests and accepts money, co-pays, ROA payments; explain fees, services, payment agreements, office policies; charge for services, supplies, equipment; makes referral calls as needed; and enters charges and payments in computer.
2. Reconciles charges and moneys received, balances cash, accurately follows end of shift/day protocol, and prepares deposit slips faxing copy to Finance.
3. Schedules appointments and follows reminder protocol, prints welcome letters and mails with necessary forms to patients, maintains and coordinates provider schedule, obtains and grants authorizations for patients.
4. Understands age specific needs, appropriately uses the A.S.K. manual and stickers.
5. Makes new patient charts, pulls and refiles charts as needed, files reports and documents in patient charts, forwards medical records as needed, obtains medical records as needed, and completes forms per protocol.
6. Maintains electronic records via scanning, downloading, and computer data entry. Performs back up and other maintenance as required.
7.Maintains network and site specific logs for statistical and tracking purposes.
8. Answers phone, prioritizes calls, and takes accurate messages; understands and uses telephone system; opens, distributes and handles incoming and outgoing mail.
9. Demonstrates the ability to get along well with patients, families, physicians, and peers and assists with orientation of new employees.
10. Properly identifies and reports pertinent information to supervisor and other appropriate staff.
11. Provides professional respect, recognition, and support to patients, physicians, and fellow team members.
