Business Intelligence Engineer, Workplace Health & Safety

The WHS Data team is hiring a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) in the Road Analytics and Data space. The Data team consists of large organization across the Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Engineering (DE) functional areas, and they are responsible with providing all reporting solutions required by the WHS Organization to drive workplace safety and regulatory compliance worldwide. In your role as a BIE, your main responsibility will involve collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to establish crucial performance metrics (KPIs) by leveraging your extensive knowledge of supporting business and operational processes. Your task will also encompass implementing these KPIs into dashboards and reports, which will serve as influential tools guiding the decision-making process of senior leadership. As a BIE, you will not only apply your technical expertise, including SQL proficiency for data retrieval and presentation in the form of graphs and tables, but you will also have the opportunity to create comprehensive dashboards. These dashboards will be characterized by their wealth of information, flexibility, and user-friendliness, enabling support leadership to uncover valuable insights that ultimately enhance the customer experience at WHS.

Key job responsibilities
- Design, build, and own the development and maintenance of custom reporting and dashboards to support the Workplace Health and Safety On Road Transportation Team, globally.
- Run daily, weekly, monthly reports with an ongoing cadence to support the team with data to help with project execution.
- Write high quality SQL code to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, Oracle), and learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use.
- Use the latest technologies to create robust data models that ensure data health, accuracy, and completeness
- Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
- Use analytical and statistical rigor to solve complex problems and drive business decisions that will help us achieve our strategic goals.
- Own and perform individual deep dive analyses, including communicating results and implications to leaders.
- Work with customers across the globe to translate complex or ambiguous business problem statements into analysis requirements.

WHS Road Analytics and Data (WHS RAD) is a team that touches the data of every aspect of the on-road transportation process. This includes all transporter and delivery types, creating an expansive environment to improve the safety of those transporters through data recommendations. These recommendations derived from leading and lagging indicators by the RAD team are making the roads across the world safer for both Amazon transporters and the broader community.
