Business Intelligence Developer - Procurement

The opportunity:

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Procurement Business Intelligence team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain advanced reporting and dashboard solutions that strengthen visibility into procurement performance, supplier trends, and cost drivers. You will partner closely with Procurement teams and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely reporting and to provide actionable, executive‑ready insights that support decision‑making and continuous improvement across the company.

This is a high‑visibility role with the opportunity to shape procurement reporting standards, influence analytics strategy, and help strengthen governance and data integrity across procurement systems and processes.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:

Develop and maintain procurement dashboards and reports
 Design and implement dashboards (for example, supplier performance scorecards, spend analysis, and other procurement KPIs) that integrate multiple data sources such as ERP‑linked data, Excel files, CSV files, APIs, etc.Support high‑quality analysis through standardized reporting
 Maintain and improve reporting solutions that provide clear, intuitive visualizations and enable comparative analysis across categories, locations, or suppliers, helping highlight opportunities and reveal better choices for business leaders.Integrate procurement data from ERP systems and other sources
 Learn and work with data from systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, and related sources, ensuring that data used in dashboards and reports is accessible, normalized to common properties, and suitable for analysis.Partner closely with Procurement Category Managers and stakeholders
 Collaborate with Procurement teams to understand reporting needs, confirm that reports and dashboards reflect current procurement strategies and assumptions, and help stakeholders interpret results to support sourcing and supplier decisions.Lead analysis and reporting using established metrics
 Support analysis of procurement‑related results—including trends, variances, run‑rate assessments, and forecast‑versus‑actual views—by preparing structured reports and summaries that make complex data easier to understand and act on.Contribute to systems, process, and reporting improvements
 Participate in and, when appropriate, help lead initiatives to improve reporting processes, data flows, and productivity tracking, with a focus on improving efficiency, accuracy, clarity, and analytical rigor in procurement reporting.Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency
 Help ensure that data used in procurement dashboards and reports is accurate and consistent by supporting data integrity checks, normalization efforts, and clear taxonomy mapping across relevant systems.Provide training and guidance on reporting tools
 Provide guidance, documentation, and training for internal customers on how to access, use, and interpret procurement reports and dashboards, tailoring communication style to different audiences across the organization.

What You Need to Succeed:

Education
 Bachelor’s degree in Business Intelligence, Informatics, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.Experience
Five or more years of relevant experience in a business analyst, data analyst, or reporting/analytics role involving metric creation, report development, and partnering with stakeholders to support decision‑making.Note: Candidates with fewer than five years of experience may still be considered if they demonstrate exceptional capability, relevant skill depth, or strong potential to excel in the role.Technical skillsProficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI / Fabric (required), Qlik (a strong plus), or similar platforms.Experience working with data from ERP and related systems (for example JD Edwards, SAP), as well as structured files such as Excel and CSV.Strong Microsoft Office skills to support analysis, documentation, and communication.Analytical and problem‑solving skills
 Strong analytical and data‑interpretation skills, with the ability to work with complex datasets, evaluate trends, and communicate insights in a clear, concise way for business stakeholders.Communication and collaboration
Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact credibly and diplomatically with all levels in the organization, including building rapport across functional teams and tailoring communication for different stakeholder groups. Data storytelling: can turn a messy brief into a clean mockup and a 3‑slide executive readout.Working style
Self‑starter and independent thinker with strong critical‑thinking skills, attention to accuracy, and passion for improvement. Able to work in a fast‑paced environment, balance routine responsibilities with ad‑hoc requests, and maintain effectiveness amid ambiguity and change. Evidence of automation curiosity (Power Automate, parameterized queries, incremental refresh). Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
