Job Description:

As a Business Development Manager (BDM) at IBM, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and driving new business opportunities that align with IBM’s strategic goals. You will build trusted relationships with prospective clients, understand their business needs, and connect them with IBM’s innovative solutions—from hybrid cloud and AI to security, data, and consulting services. Your work will directly impact revenue growth, client success, and IBM’s market expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and develop new business opportunities, partnerships, and market segments within assigned territory or industry vertical.

Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers, including C-level executives.

Collaborate with sales, marketing, technical teams, and IBM partners to craft and deliver compelling value propositions.

Understand client challenges, industry trends, and competitive landscapes to position IBM solutions effectively.

Manage the full business development cycle—from prospecting and opportunity qualification to contract negotiation and closing.

Develop go-to-market strategies for new offerings and collaborate on account planning and execution.

Track business development activities and pipeline progress using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).

Meet or exceed revenue and growth targets through strategic and consultative selling.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships in the tech or consulting industry.

Proven track record of identifying, developing, and closing complex business opportunities.

Strong understanding of enterprise IT, cloud, AI, or digital transformation solutions.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Strategic thinker with the ability to understand client goals and align them with IBM solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with or within IBM’s ecosystem or familiarity with IBM’s technology portfolio.

Industry expertise in sectors such as financial services, healthcare, retail, or manufacturing.

MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.

Familiarity with partner/channel development strategies
