Business Development Manager- Freight Forwarding

C.H. Robinson is looking for a driven Business Development Manager to accelerate growth in our Global Forwarding business across Oceania. Join a dynamic, high-performing team and leverage our strong reputation with existing high-profile clients to uncover and secure new opportunities.
As the Business Development Manager (BDM), you will be responsible for identifying Customers that meet the target opportunity profile, building relationships, solutioning, negotiating and closing new business. You’ll work across a full suite of services - Ocean and Air Freight, Customs, Transport, Coastal Shipping, Warehousing, and Value-Added Services - all supported by C.H. Robinson’s global reach.
**Location:** Melbourne. A hybrid, flexible work arrangement applies.
**Duties & Responsibilities:**
+ Independently identify and generate new business opportunities aligned with target profiles.
+ Engage with prospective customers to understand their needs and craft tailored solutions.
+ Plan and conduct face-to-face meetings with new prospects.
+ Maintain and update our CRM system at least weekly to ensure pipeline visibility.
+ Drive C-level engagement, building relationships and influencing decision-making.
+ Manage the sales pipeline to support onboarding and resource planning.
+ Collaborate internally with Commercial, Product, and Operations teams to align support for winning deals.
+ Support smooth handover to Operations and Account Management during implementation.
+ Stay informed of market trends and competitor capabilities to differentiate C.H. Robinson’s offerings.
We are looking for motivated individuals with a solid background in freight sales who are looking to further their career and create value for C.H. Robinson clients. To be successful in this role, it is expected you will have:
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
+ 5+ years’ experience in Freight Forwarding or Logistics.
+ 3+ years driving new business growth in freight sales (air/ ocean etc)
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Strong ability to communicate with all levels, including C-Level executives.
+ Commercial acumen with solid understanding of supply chain and logistics.
+ Competitive, resilient, and results-driven mindset.
+ Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
+ Ablility to build strong relationships.
+ Strong attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
