The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth through the development and execution of strategic marketing and business development initiatives within a defined geographic territory. This role requires analyzing market opportunities, creating tailored business plans, and cultivating strong relationships with referral sources, payors, and partners across the healthcare continuum. The ideal candidate brings an entrepreneurial mindset, strong relationship‑building abilities, and the leadership skills needed to support recruitment efforts and enhance the organization’s visibility.
Business Development & StrategyDevelop and execute a comprehensive marketing and business development strategy tailored to the assigned geographic area and community needs.Identify and analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to inform strategic planning.Create at least 10 annual pursuit‑plan target accounts with a defined strategic spread.Align all business development activities with the vision and direction of the Director of Business Operations.Customer Engagement & Relationship ManagementSpend approximately 80% of time engaging with customers in-person to promote services, features, and benefits.Build, strengthen, and manage relationships with existing accounts; act as a consultant to deepen customer partnerships.Evaluate customer needs and develop customized proposals and solutions.Provide outstanding customer service to clients, patients, and families, especially in troubleshooting and conflict resolution.Collaborate with internal Clinical and Operational teams to understand available services and educate customers.Collaboration & Internal LeadershipPartner with the Director of Business Operations to represent office capabilities during business development appointments.Maintain strong collaboration with internal office and clinical teams to ensure consistent communication and service delivery.Effectively communicate business opportunities with regional and national teams and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.Recruitment LeadershipInterview, hire, lead, coach, and manage the performance of the recruiting team.Ensure the recruiting strategy is executed efficiently and aligns with broader business development objectives.Conduct daily Red Zone meetings with the recruiting team to monitor activity and drive performance.Compliance & OperationsEnsure completion of all required reports and activity tracking to meet company KPIs.Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws impacting the organization and educate both customers and staff.May serve as Administrator when required by state regulations, overseeing day‑to‑day office operations.Essential SkillsProven sales experience, ideally within healthcare or ABA services; relevant experience from other industries also considered.Strong outbound calling, cold calling, and lead generation skills.Expertise in business development meetings, prospecting, and presentation.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.Proficiency in account management and high‑touch customer service.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to collaborate effectively in a team environment.Leadership capabilities with experience providing coaching and feedback.Experience in staffing and outside sales preferred.Familiarity with the healthcare industry is a plus.Work EnvironmentThis role is based in-office near Buccaneer Stadium, with regular fieldwork for client meetings throughout the Tampa Bay area. The Business Development Manager will oversee one recruiter and one client coordinator, managing their weekly activities. The position also requires close collaboration with the ABA team, including five clinicians and Clinical Managers/BCBAs. The standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, with some flexibility depending on weekly business needs.
