Execute Strategy for Vertical Brands:
Maintain, grow and enhance the sales volume and market positioning of the DICK’s Sporting Goods Vertical Brands.
Execute the long-term product and brand strategies.
Execute the seasonal product strategies.
Grow key item franchise businesses across brand/product category.
Contribute to the research, and sizing/scaling of category expansion opportunities.
Contribute to the research, and sizing/scaling of white space opportunities.
Acquire Market Intelligence:
Develops skill set across trend, athlete and market insights, and the competitive set
Seasonal research on demos/spend/market basket analysis.
Utilize athlete insights to support strategies and test and prove new ideas.
Obtain athlete’s preferences and POV through focus groups, virtual/in store testing, and product use tests.
Analyze product reviews and athlete feedback and apply learnings to future development.
Participates in seasonal Athlete intelligence trips and monthly in season local trips. Show up where the athlete is present at scale to learn from them in terms of what activities they are doing, how they are doing them, and the equipment they are using.
Develops expertise of the competitive set through regular omnichannel competitive shopping. Intimate knowledge of the assortment architecture, pricing and promotion, key items, and category shifts within our key competitive set
Assessment of the competitive sets strength and weaknesses to identify opportunities and/or threats.
Identify and track emerging competitors to assess their strengths and threats.
Use and test competitive product to identify hits/misses/opportunities for our vertical brand product.
Seasonal analysis of Circana/SFIA/KOA…etc. data by category to identify trends and opportunities/risks in the market.
Regular omni channel shopping and tracking of the aspirational brands for product intelligence and inspiration.
Identify emerging aspirational brands to watch.
Attend relevant trade shows and relevant events to identify product opportunities.
Execute Assortment Architecture and Line Plan:
Execute the development of a compelling product assortment each season for categories of responsibility.
Develop expertise of the competitive landscape balanced along with the business needs and opportunities to inform the seasonal line plan.
Identify grow/maintain/decline categories.
Maintain good/better/best strategies.
Maintain relevant retail prices.
Maintain cost targets and margin targets and hold accountability for achieving them.
Identify new category opportunities through brand lens
Develop strong analytical thinking to translate business analysis into strategy and action.
Analyze seasonal selling by attributes to identify opportunities for future development: category, class, style, item size/type, color, print/pattern, good/better/best pricing…etc.
Identify where style and category attributes are over indexing and under indexing in the business to influence future product strategies, assortments, and development.
Hindsight quarterly product wins/misses/opportunities
Sell and Influence the Vertical Brands Cross Functional Team:
Develop credibility and trust with manager, internal vertical brands cross functional team, and merchant team counterparts.
Build POV on the assortment backed up by data to influence the merchant’s buying decisions.
Sell and influence ideas around the product strategies, big ideas, assortment architecture, marketing, visual, and Ecomm content to managers and internal vertical brands cross functional team
Foster Cross Functional Collaboration:
Serve as a key connection point between categories of responsibility and the vertical brands cross functional team.
Design: Communicate assortment architecture needs inclusive of styling, spec, materials, color, print/pattern, and cost targets. Ensure adoption and interpretation of trends are relevant for each brand/category.
Sourcing: Assist in the execution of seasonal IMU and margin targets.
Merchandising: Provide market intelligence, assortment architecture, and assortment analytics. Utilize merchant reporting for weekly business updates.
Ecomm: Collaborate on ecomm assets including samples, feature sets, copy, packaging, imagery, videos…etc.
Store team: Maintain teammate training materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
3-5 years of related experience in vertical merchandising or product development
