The Business Coordinator I, under general supervision, provides support and coordination of a variety of business activities requiring independent judgment, including reviewing business documents, and assisting in developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts and budget data as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Two years of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook and Video Conferencing Applications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
+ Interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Planning and organizational skills.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Responsibilities
Reviewing and Preparing Fiscal Paperwork
+ Serves as liaison with FMO.
+ Reviews and approves payment vouchers and purchase requisitions.
+ Reviews and audits reconciliations of multiple accounts for the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics (NExT).
+ Monitors and reports on departmental budget activity.
+ Prepares any monthly and annual financial reports requested by faculty and staff.
+ Provides input to department financial policies and interprets policies and procedures for faculty and staff.
+ Assists in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring business programs or services for NExT.
Coordinating Fiscal Activities
+ Coordinates annual fiscal year closing activities and drafts new fiscal year plans.
+ Coordinates routine fiscal activities.
+ Proposes solutions to routine financial problems.
+ Communicates cash handling procedures, coordinates and approves cash handling activities, and implements and coordinates purchasing activities.
+ Coordinates inventory process and maintenance of departmental business files.
Administration and Development of grants
+ Assists with administration of contracts and grants. Assists in preparing budgets for review by principal investigator(s).
+ Develops financial and statistical analyses and summary reports.
+ Composes correspondence.
+ Assists with administration of departmental funds, and program or project funds for Principal Investigators.
Training and Assisting in Department functions
+ Participates in the hiring and training of business staff and/or student workers and may provide supervision.
+ Trains staff on new and existing business procedures and provides policies and regulations to staff.
+ May serve as a liaison with finance, payroll, and/or human resources.
+ Assists Willed Body Program Administrator with Willed Body paperwork and duties as needed.
+ Serves as backup for Business Coordinator III and Business Administrator II as necessary.
