S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Manager of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) will serve as the process owner and strategic lead for the organization's business continuity framework. This individual will establish and mature the company's capabilities across ten critical domains of continuity planning—without direct staff management—through strong cross-functional collaboration, planning discipline, and operational rigor.
This role is critical for enhancing enterprise resilience, particularly in a healthcare organization with heavy SaaS dependence (e.g., EMR: Homecare Homebase). The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical, regulatory, and risk management expertise, with a strong ability to operationalize planning across business and IT functions.
Position Specific Responsibilities
• Act as the internal lead for BCP processes and liaison to Information Security, Compliance, and Operations leaders.
• Lead recurring BIAs across clinical, administrative, and technology functions.
• Identify critical processes, dependencies, and RTO/RPO targets for both internal and SaaS-hosted systems.
• Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans for all critical functions and applications.
• Collaborate with critical service areas (e.g., clinical operations, revenue cycle, IT) to identify and implement continuity strategies that mitigate key operational, financial, regulatory, and patient safety risks.
• Ensure alignment with organizational priorities, data flow mapping, and key risk areas.
• Implement a SaaS tiering and risk assessment framework.
• Review vendor BCDR practices, including HCHB, and lead annual or more frequent BCP reviews with key third parties.
• Partner with Infrastructure and Data teams to document, test, and improve IT disaster recovery capabilities across Azure and SaaS platforms.
• Ensure alignment between DR plans and business priorities identified in the BIA process.
• Design and coordinate ongoing BCP training for leaders, site contacts, and key personnel.
• Develop awareness campaigns to improve organizational preparedness and engagement.
• Lead the design and facilitation of business continuity and disaster recovery testing.
• Coordinate annual tabletop exercises and scenario simulations, documenting outcomes and driving improvement efforts.
• Create and maintain a crisis communication plan and escalation protocols for various event types.
• Coordinate multi-channel communication strategies for executive teams, clinical operations, and third-party partners.
• Collaborate with IT to ensure that backup and recovery practices meet organizational requirements and are regularly tested.
• Monitor data integrity and backup verification procedures for critical systems, including the EDW.
• Ensure BCP efforts align with HIPAA, HITRUST, CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule, and other applicable standards.
• Support audit readiness and documentation for internal and external compliance reviews.
