Business and Economic Development Manager – Mega ProjectsLocation: Remote anywhere is the US.
Ferguson currently conducts business through nine business verticals with a mixture of commercial, industrial and residential offerings; these verticals are traditionally independent and go to the market on a local basis. Two years in place, One Ferguson is an initiative to build an enterprise approach to working with clients, particularly in and around Megaprojects and Large Capital Projects!
We strongly believe that Ferguson is a dedicated partner in managing large capital projects, providing value-added solutions from the earliest planning stages through final execution and beyond. Our team of expert associates collaborates with Owners, General Contractors and Architects/Engineers to position Ferguson as a strategic project partner, bringing together the strengths of our diverse customer groups to capitalize on significant growth opportunities. With an expansive network, a single-source supply chain, and industry-leading expertise, we coordinate and deploy resources to support complex large capital projects from inception to completion.
Now looking to expand our strategic sales team, The Ferguson Large Capital Projects Economic Development Manager(s), Business Development Manager(s) and Strategic Account Manager(s) will be responsible for driving strategies that cultivate the highest level (Top-to-Top) relationships between Ferguson and the nation’s largest General Contractors, Developers, Architects, Engineers, and Owners. This role continues strategic expansion of the existing Ferguson Large Capital Projects team that “Finds, Quotes and Manages” qualified projects from inception to completion. Targeted relationships with General Contractors, Owners and Designers across growing national megaproject industries such as advanced manufacturing, science/technology, data center, healthcare, pharmaceutical, public assembly and others is highly desired.
We Are Seeking Someone Who Is:A recognized thought leader and innovator in one or more national megaproject market verticals, particularly within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industries.Experienced in collaborative project delivery methods and innovative approaches to better the industry.Experienced in positioning value-add services and capabilities to differentiate and secure project partnership.Strong knowledge in Project lifecycle from Funding to Completion.An innovator who has a strong history of developing executive leadership and key partner relationships as part of the strategic Business Development process.A relationship builder supporting repetitive national megaproject project vertical key partners including but not limited to the General Contractor, Owner and DesignersA collaborator and a great teammate with a passion for excellence and success.Role Responsibilities:Develop and maintain strategic business relationships with the highest-level decision makers within targeted markets, promoting the One Ferguson brand and profitable business relationships.Initiate early-stage engagement with C-suite executives, including general contractors, owners, architects, engineers, and other senior project stakeholders—to build strategic relationships and drive top-of-funnel activity.Implement business strategies to build profitable relationships and uncover new revenue opportunities by integrating Ferguson’s products, solutions, and services early in the design and construction process. Establish and drive cross regional/national business development plans for targeted market(s) and/or stakeholder(s), with short to mid-term impact on results. Work requires a high degree of responsibility for resources, and frequently influences business decisions made by functional leadership.Manage existing customer and vendor relationships. Monitor customer and competitor activity and industry trends. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, customer needs, and market dynamics.Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives and goals.Drive activity to increase brand awareness across Ferguson customer groups, creating downstream benefits impacting all customer groups that could engage in designated market. Better position Ferguson to drive our Own Brand and sustainable product strategy.Assess and manage risks associated with Megaproject deals that includes understanding the project’s financial, legal, and operational risks, and developing mitigation strategies.Coordinate marketing strategies as related to business development efforts. Where appropriate, recommend standards and provide input for sales targets and quotas for assigned market.Has authority to establish budgets, approve expenditures and allocate resources as needed within budget.Visit with high-level current and potential clients within the assigned market vertical(s) and/or stakeholder area of focus.Represent the organization to customers, associates and leadership as needed.Preferred Qualifications8+ years’ experience in the broader Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction (AEC) industry driving economic and business expansion through proven relationships and a relentless desire to win.Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.Strong understanding of Megaproject lifecycle: Project Funding to Project Completion.Executive presence and high-level influencing skills.Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, ability to provide technical advice, coaching and counseling within own expertise area to peers and the organization.Proven track record as a key team member and collaborator.Ability to travel up to 50%.At Ferguson, we care for each other.
