We are currently seeking a Business Analyst - Cognos (Onsite Hybrid) to join our team in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania (US-PA), United States (US).
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Requirement and Data Analysis – 30%
· Manages the requirements for SDLC Project Life Cycle by establishing and maintaining agreement between business team , project team and external vendor team .This also involves managing Change in requirement and new requirements added to original requirements. The change has to be agreed and communicated to the project stake holders.
· Incorporated feedback and obtaining business area sign offs on requirements. The requirement document is an important deliverable in the project life cycle. It contains functional requirement, non-functional requirement, In-scope and out of Scope, Data Analysis and Data Mapping, user – Acceptance criteria and data gathering. Each and every feedback has to be incorporated , properly communicated to business and obtain requirements sign off
· Articulate current state and future state by work flow diagrams, process maps and flowcharts. Elaborate the complete current state process and explaining each component involved in existing system and also elaborate the future state changes that are required. Provide screen shots and mock up screen for future state.
· Provides a walkthrough sessions for business areas, development teams and QA teams to showcase the various capabilities and review the workflows and process maps
Product Development Support – 20%
· Builds the foundation for the development efforts by capturing business context, problem, current ,desired future state, objectives, business needs and impacted user groups
· Conducts working session across various development team to capture Data mapping that involves source and target database fields. Clarification regarding data mapping is responded and follow ups are assigned to appropriate development team.
· Conduct Daily Stand up meetings with Project team to identify the milestone and impediments and help the developers to resolve those milestone. The Road blocks are identified and escalated appropriately
· Develops a roadmap that reconciles the requirements of the business partners and the constraints the project is facing from either a technical or resources
Product Quality Assurance (QA) Testing & User Acceptance Testing (UAT) – 30%
· Respond testers on requirement clarification. provide business scenarios to understand the existing problem and also provide few sample data to research
· Reviews test plans and test cases in ALM tool for testing to verify whether all the user requirements were captured.ALM is a tool that is used at client to manage the test plan and test cases.
· Attends Weekly defect review meetings, clarify requirements to the testing team if there was any ambiguity. Also engages with TMNAS and Guidewire business areas for requirement gathering and clarification if needed during testing phase.
· Conduct Pre- UAT meeting to set expectations for business on delivery date for UAT and expected scenarios to be tested
· Meets with the project discipline leads such as security, business analysts
Basic Qualifications:
This BA position is for a Cognos reporting team.
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
3+ years of experience with Cognos & SQL
Preferred Skills:
Strong analtyical skills Strong communication skills Technical acumen- COgnos and SQL is a huge asset. Ability to form strong relationships with a wide variety of business sponsors. Metric tracking - internal reporting. Strong understanding of the SDLC process
