Business Analyst
Job Title: Business Analyst / Business Operations Specialist – Supply Chain & TransportationJob Description This entry-level business analyst role supports transportation operations within a manufacturing-focused supply chain organization. You maintain vendor and carrier relationships, track and trace inbound freight, and act as a business analyst for non-IT projects. You help manage project goals, deadlines, metrics, and budgets, and you support logistics and transportation teams in moving materials from suppliers to the manufacturing facility on time. This position offers a strong foundation in logistics, transportation, and supply chain while providing exposure to project management and business operations. Responsibilities + Establish and maintain clear communication channels across business units and between the project team and the broader organization. + Maintain the storage, organization, and retrieval of all project communications data and business metrics. + Review contracts, cost proposals, and contract supplements to support sound business and financial decisions. + Set up project structures and work breakdown structures to support effective planning and execution. + Establish, document, and continuously improve business processes related to transportation and supply chain operations. + Track project budgets and expenditures, and monitor transaction controls and costs against approved budgets. + Analyze and track inbound transportation activities to ensure materials arrive on time to the manufacturing facility. + Work directly with carriers to resolve transportation issues, delays, and exceptions. + Use SAP and other applications to run reports and analyze data related to inbound freight, transportation performance, and logistics metrics. + Support supply chain and logistics teams to move, track, and trace material from suppliers to the manufacturing facility to meet required delivery dates and times. + Monitor Track & Trace activities for both domestic and international freight to ensure visibility and timely issue resolution. + Prepare and maintain transportation and logistics reports to support decision-making and performance monitoring. + Coordinate closely with the logistics team to support inbound dock scheduling and execution at the manufacturing facility. + Apply basic accounting and mathematical principles to analyze costs, budgets, and revenue or expense projections. + Analyze business trends and contribute to projections of future revenues and expenses related to transportation and supply chain activities. Essential Skills + Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and professionally. + High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in data, documentation, and reporting. + Customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external carriers. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage one’s time effectively. + Knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods. + Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to daily work as needed. + Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses. + Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. + General proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. + Bachelor’s degree in business management, economics, finance, human resources, or a relevant field. + 0–2 years of related experience; internships count toward this experience. + Foundational understanding of procurement, purchasing, logistics, and supply chain concepts. + Interest in or exposure to finance and revenue-related analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is strongly preferred. + Experience working with transportation reporting or Track & Trace tools. + Familiarity with inbound and outbound logistics processes in a manufacturing environment. + Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines. + Exposure to production methods and manufacturing operations. + Experience supporting or coordinating with procurement, purchasing, or supply chain teams. + Ability to contribute to strategic planning and resource allocation discussions using data-driven insights. + Interest in building a long-term career in logistics, transportation, and supply chain operations. Work Environment You work in a dynamic manufacturing and supply chain environment that manages both domestic and international freight. The role involves close collaboration with logistics, transportation, procurement, and finance teams, as well as regular interaction with external carriers and vendors. You primarily work with office-based tools and systems, including SAP, ERP platforms, and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word, to analyze data, prepare reports, and manage project information. The position focuses on inbound transportation to a manufacturing facility, supporting dock scheduling, execution, and real-time Track & Trace monitoring. The schedule typically follows standard business hours, with occasional flexibility needed to respond to transportation issues or time-sensitive deliveries. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Victoria, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
