Role Overview:

This is a Business Analyst (BA) role that sits within the Corporate Functions team that is part of the TP ICAP Technology division. The BA will work within an Agile team alongside software engineers, working on the next generation of strategic back-office applications, ensuring the solutions are at the required quality to be released. The BA will be responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and delivering data-driven recommendations to support decision-making.

Role Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Product Owner to understand the product vision, roadmap, and priorities, while ensuring that product features align with strategic goals and user expectations.

Own/Shape/Refine a migration sequence at client/desk/asset class level across multiple trading regions.

Coordinate, hold and lead requirements gathering and process definition workshops with the business.

Proactively ensure project (functional + non-functional) requirements are captured and signed off by key senior Business and Technology stakeholders.

Challenge stakeholders or other Technology teams where requirements or solutions are not in line with wider strategy, or lead to increased risk.

Form part of an Agile Delivery POD/Team with specific accountabilities around Story refinement,  achieving DoR, DEV/QA handovers, Test support.

Transpose hi-level functional requirements into granular JIRA stories with sufficient granularity as to achieve DoR(Definition of Ready).

Ensuring that current & target state data & process flows are clearly documented in JIRA’s as appropriate. 

Complete handover of JIRA’s to Developers as part of the DoR stage-gate.

Work with QA’s to ensure test approaches and test AC’s align with the functional objective of each story.

Understand and challenge requirements; proactively raise risks and issues to the Project Manager where identified.

Support testing phases (SIT, UAT etc) and end user training.

Take responsibility for the quality of Business Analysis work within the same business line, peer review work and provide feedback.

Manage ad-hoc tasks as required.

Ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility.

Report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/ or your supervisor as described in the policy.

Experience / Competences

Essential

Minimum 8 years of experience in a Business Analyst role within complex technology-driven environments.

A good understanding of the front-to-back trade lifecycle, including client facing UI, trading, middle/back-office and reference data.

Understanding of the full project life cycle from requirements capture through to implementation and delivery.

Proficient at data analysis tasks using basic SQL, understand the data requirements from upstream/downstream.

Ownership of functional specs.

Proven experience of Big data migrations/Data Integration/Data analysis across at client/desk/asset class level.

Previous experience operating as a Senior Business Analyst in Financial Services Technology, ideally within an Agile development environment.

Strong understanding of financial products and their data characteristics.

Big data analysis using SQL, Python or equivalent tooling to identify functional and non-functional requirements.

UML modelling for functional workflow and requirements.

Highly proficient in Excel, pivots etc. It is key the successful candidate can digest large data extracts, reconcile them and/or turn them into meaningful dashboard summaries. 

Solid understanding of HL Architecture/Technical Designs, and specifically which components are impacted by specific requirements, understanding downstream impacts. 

XML/BML/fpML Experience.

Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management at all levels; strong presentation skills, collab tools. 

Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for data integration projects.

Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills, ability to work to tight deadlines.

Analyse and map data flows between different financial systems and applications.

Ability to work on multiple projects whilst managing multiple deadlines and differing priorities.

Ability to self-start, identify tasks required independently to fulfil project deliverables and work as a team member.

Writing skills - ability to produce documents in a clear, accurate and compelling manner.

Results oriented and personal accountability.

Excellent attention to detail, highly organised with a proactive approach.

Skilled in Microsoft applications software, inclusive of MS Visio and / or BPMN 2.0.

Desirable

Candidates having previous experience whereby JIRA formed the golden source of truth for large transformation projects are highly desirable.

MI & Regulatory Reporting will be a significant part of this role. Experience in breaking down and grouping such requirements will be instrumental in this role. 

Candidates should have experience with API contracts, Swagger, and related tools.
