The Building Surveyor provides specialized expertise in building structures, fabric maintenance, and related technical services. This role ensures the structural integrity and proper maintenance of building elements while supporting the engineering management team in delivering comprehensive technical services.

What this job involves

Technical Support and Supervision

Assist Engineering Manager and Assistant Building Surveying Manager in performing their duties

Supervise and report on building-related technical services performed under the Contract

Oversee Frontline Team personnel engaged in building maintenance services

Ensure compliance with SLAs, statutory requirements, and KPI targets


Building Maintenance Management

Support the development of Annual Planned Preventive Maintenance Plans for building elements

Ensure buildings, facilities, and systems are maintained in optimal condition

Execute preventive maintenance programs and ensure timely completion of work orders

Liaise with user departments to develop maintenance plans that accommodate operational needs


Technical Analysis and Reporting

Monitor building services delivery and prepare technical reports

Generate reports on building condition, structural integrity, and maintenance performance

Prepare facilities improvement proposals with budget estimations

Analyze building performance and recommend improvement initiatives


Project Management

Supervise improvement, alterations & additions (A&A) works and renovation projects

Prepare tender documents for outsourcing building-related works

Review and monitor vendor and contractor performance

Ensure subcontractor compliance with service level requirements


Building Systems Oversight

Formulate and review asset replacement strategies and maintenance regimes

Analyze building systems performance and conduct technical investigations

Recommend building improvement initiatives based on technical findings

Ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards


Emergency Response

Provide technical support during building-related emergencies

Attend to typhoon-related duties as required

May work nights and during public holidays/weekends

Provide 24/7 emergency call support and site attendance when needed


Inspection and Reporting

Conduct routine building inspections

Prepare detailed inspection reports

Handle other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Authority


Working Conditions

On-site position requiring regular building inspections

May require flexible working hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Must be available for emergency response situations


 

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills

Degree/Higher Diploma in Building Surveying Engineering or equivalent

Minimum 5 years of experience in property and facilities management

At least 2 years of relevant experience in a supervisory position in FM/PM field and/or E&M maintenance works

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Word and Excel)

Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, especially in report writing

Strong communication skills

Ability to work independently under pressure with minimal supervision
