What this job involves:

JLL is hiring an Building Operator for a new client location near the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus. You will maintain mechanical systems and perform other maintenance duties for commercial and medical properties. This role works independently at this location but will be part of a larger maintenance team and participate in the on-call rotation and assist at other properties as needed.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Operate and maintain building mechanical systems including the central plant and localized heating, cooling and ventilating equipment, ensuring efficient and safe operation of all HVAC related equipment throughout the individual buildings.

Respond to tenant service work orders as quickly and expertly as possible, in a professional and courteous manner.

Perform required preventative maintenance tasks of equipment to ensure building systems are maintained at optimum efficiency. Assist in the establishment of required preventive maintenance tasks.

Manage water treatment systems through testing and analysis, adjust and modify the chemical feed to ensure proper levels are being maintained.

Complete custodial housekeeping tasks in the mechanical/electrical areas; or as required.

Perform regular interaction and supervision of outside contractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of contracted repairs and services.

Take part in cross-training between different properties within the Portfolio of the Ottawa Real Estate office, including on-call coverage for multiple properties.

Act as relief for other similar positions at other job sites due to staff absences, shortages, as may be required.

Monitor energy consumption and support sustainability initiatives as required.

Complete all required safety training in compliance with OSHA and other local regulations.

Perform other related duties as required and assigned from time-to-time with minimal

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years’ experience commercial in building repairs/operations.

Experience in the operation of Fire and Life Safety systems in a typical commercial building.

Building Environmental Systems Operator Certificate Class 1 & 2 preferred. Trade certifications and/or other equivalencies considered.

Experienced with various computerized building management and control systems.

Interpersonal skills, demonstrating integrity and dedication to service excellence.

Basic verbal and written communication skills. Be able to comprehend and resolve issues.

Have use of a personal vehicle to be able to travel to different property sites. (Mileage is reimbursable)

Respond to unexpected emergency calls if problems occur

Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

Estimated compensation for this position:

65,000.00 – 75,000.00 CAD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
