Building Maintenance Manager

The University Club of Milwaukee is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of Building Maintenance Manager. The Building Maintenance Manager is directly responsible for the daily maintenance of all club buildings, assets, and mechanical systems including grounds, landscaping, buildings, pools, furniture, and fixtures, and all repair and maintenance of said assets and systems that are generally and customarily required to be executed by maintenance personnel at a high-end, private club.

Responsibilities:
• Identifies need and executes maintenance-related projects throughout the club’s facilities.
• Maintains ongoing awareness of all maintenance needs and projects throughout the facilities and provides constant feedback and direction to key staff members or vendor partners.
• Possesses a solid working knowledge of mechanical systems including electrical, HVAC, hydraulics, plumbing, restaurant kitchen equipment repair, and general building internal and exterior envelop systems.
• Proficient with computer technology and standard software programs and applications.
• Ensures that all Associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns.
• Ability to understand and work with capital and operating budgets.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with all departments, outside contractors, and members.
• Will present him/herself as a professional with high standards.
• Able to handle multiple tasks and at times in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Provides leadership and a positive working environment that fosters teamwork, communication, ethical behavior, cleanliness and a “can do” attitude.
• Responsible for training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

Reports To: General Manager

Education/Experience Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA), Associate degree (AA) or Trade School Certificate preferred but not required; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:
• Regularly stands and walks; climbs or balances.
• Regularly uses hands; reaches with arms and hands.
• Frequently talks or hears.
• Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Environment/Noise:
• Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses:
• Valid Driver’s License.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
• Ability to read and speak English is required to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the Facilities Maintenance Manager is required to communicate with English speaking members and coworkers, the manuals for the equipment the position uses are in English).
• General knowledge of low-voltage lighting preferred.
• General knowledge of mechanical operations preferred.
• General knowledge of pool equipment preferred.
• General carpentry skills preferred.

Extra Information: Oversight of Assistant Facilities Manager, Housekeepers and Pool Maintenance staff.
