A building design engineer is required to create, analyse, and optimise structural, mechanical, and electrical systems for new building construction projects, while ensuring safety, compliance with codes, and functionality from concept to completion. The use of CAD software is essential to develop detailed plans, and site inspections is required, along with managing contractors, and managing project teams and budgets.
Improve and promote safety across the site,Develop detailed blueprints, structural models, and systems designs using CAD and 3D modelling tools on own and with external engineers,With the help of contract designers analyse, calculate, and evaluate structural integrity, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems,Ensure all designs and construction meet legal, environmental, and safety regulations (e.g., building codes),Coordinate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to manage the project lifecycle, from proposal to final inspection,Inspect building areas to verify compliance with plans, troubleshoot issues, and recommend repairs for structural or system failures,Manage external contractors,Support other engineering personnel to achieve departmental goals,Responsible for helping to identify own personal training and development needs, andSuch other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require.
