The Buggy Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of the resort’s electric and utility buggy fleet—ensuring uninterrupted guest transportation and efficient staff logistics across Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island. The role combines hands-on technical work with preventative maintenance planning, inventory control, and safety compliance aligned with Hilton luxury brand standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & RepairsPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on electric buggies (including batteries, chargers, controllers, wiring, brakes, suspension, tires, and lighting).Conduct diagnostics and fault-finding using multimeters and OEM tools; resolve intermittent electrical issues and CAN bus/controller faults.Service battery systems (lead-acid/lithium): watering (where applicable), equalization cycles, voltage testing, cell balancing, connector inspections, and safe disposal protocols.Maintain charging infrastructure: verify charger health, cables, plugs, and clearly mark charging bays with safety signage.Fleet Reliability & SafetyCarry out daily readiness checks and pre-shift inspections; tag and remove unsafe units from service promptly.Implement a fleet maintenance calendar (weekly/monthly/quarterly tasks), and ensure on-time completion.Road-test buggies post-repair; ensure braking, steering, and lighting meet safety standards.Uphold HSE standards: lockout/tagout, PPE, safe lifting, spill containment, and electrical safety procedures.Inventory & AdministrationMaintain spare parts inventory (tires, brakes, belts, bearings, bulbs, fuses, controllers, harnesses, chargers, terminals).Prepare maintenance logs, job cards, parts usage, and service histories; update asset register.Support vendor relations for parts sourcing, and coordinate with Procurement for island logistics and lead times.Guest & Colleague ExperienceRespond quickly to on-island breakdowns, ensuring minimal service disruption and professional guest interaction.Train buggy drivers on daily care routines: pre-use checks, charging etiquette, load limits, and safe operation.Collaborate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Security to support seamless guest movements and VIP needs.Sustainability & EnvironmentAdhere to environmental best practices in hazardous waste handling (batteries, oils, cleaners) and recycling.Optimize charging times and driving practices to extend battery life and reduce energy consumption. Qualifications & ExperienceTechnical Diploma/Certificate in Auto/Electrical/Mechanical or related trade (or equivalent hands-on experience).2+ years experience in maintenance of electric golf carts/buggies, EVs, or light utility vehicles.Strong electrical diagnostics (12V–72V systems), wiring schematics, and controller troubleshooting.Experience with lead-acid and/or lithium battery systems and charging protocols.Valid driver’s license; ability to operate manual and automatic buggies safely.Experience in hospitality or resort environments is an advantage.Skills & AttributesMethodical, safety-focused, and detail-oriented.Strong problem-solving and time management; able to prioritize during peak operations.Good communication; able to support guest-facing interactions when required.Comfortable working outdoors in tropical conditions and on rotational island schedules.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 25–30 kg with proper technique; frequent bending, kneeling, and standing.Comfortable working in heat, humidity, and rain, and in confined or elevated spaces as needed.
