Budget Analyst – SPC Plant Harris
**Budget Analyst – SPC Plant Harris** **Job Summary** The Budget Analyst position will provide overall accounting/budgeting expertise and analysis for Southern Power Company’s Plant Harris in Prattville, AL. This position will develop, implement and maintain accounting/ budgeting/ reporting processes for both O&M and Capital budgets, as well as maintain and support associated information systems. This position will be an active member of the Budget Operations Review Board representing Plant Harris. The Budget Analyst will also act as a liaison between plant personnel and SPC Accounting/SPC Budgeting. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager and will also have administrative duties in support of the management team and plant personnel. Additional duties may include: Coordinating luncheons/meetings, recording material receipts, verification of vendor invoices, establishing purchase orders in support of plant operations, and tracking personnel time. Overnight travel is required but not frequent. **Education Requirements** + Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting or Finance preferred. + Knowledge of (GAAP) generally accepted accounting principles required. + Knowledge of Southern Company budgeting principles a plus. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to accuracy and detail. + Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels within the plant and corporate environments + Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment + Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple work assignments and work with minimal supervision + Must consistently demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail + Must be able to properly handle sensitive and/or confidential information + Advanced computer skills with Excel strongly preferred; knowledge with Oracle and Maximo is a plus + Experience in budgeting, accounting, and/or finance is preferred **Other Attributes** + Must demonstrate Our Values + Must be a self-starter with strong interpersonal and decision-making skills + Must be flexible and able to adapt in a continuously changing environment **Southern Power** , a subsidiary of Southern Company, is a leading U.S. wholesale energy provider meeting the electricity needs of municipalities, electric cooperatives, investor-owned utilities, and other energy customers.
