The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer provides senior leadership and guidance to the organization and peers, acting as a change agent to drive process improvement throughout the supply base. This is accomplished through application of knowledge in quality systems, creating and driving adherence to disciplined systems and robust processes, and focused standardization of best practices; in conjunction with managing to a cohesive set of key performance metrics that provide an objective perspective on the supply chain health and effectiveness. The BU Supplier Quality Engineer also creates and maintains cross functional relationships needed to foster a proactive engagement culture amongst the business operations team and a productive working relationship with suppliers.
Quality Systems
Develop, maintain, and implement quality systems procedures and work instructions in compliance to AS9100, customer, and other regulatory requirementsCorrective / Preventive action leader and team playerStandardize metrics and best practices Support and/or conduct Management System Assessment (MSA) audits . Support QMS and third-party audits to maintain certifications and regulatory requirements. Provide training, support, and maintain the QMS software for the worldwide Support new product development team and product transfer to manufacturing, and facilitating value-add deployment of AS13100 complianceSupplier Quality
Conduct onsite supplier audits in accordance with AS9100 and other customer and regulatory requirements, or as neededLead kaizen events at suppliers and improve supplier performance using process expertise, problem solving tools, and six sigma tools (MSA’s, SPC, Cp or Cpk, etc.). Train suppliers in constructing FMEAs and control plans.Review supplier non-conformances and general issues regularly with Howmet plants worldwide. Take actions with suppliers as needed to resolve problems. Manage MRB (Material Review Board) team of non-conforming parts disposition and work closely with suppliers and internal cross-functional departments to resolve quality issues.Issue supplier corrective actions (SCARs) for low scorecard performance, quality and delivery problems, or as requested by plants. Work with suppliers to develop corrective and preventative actions and verify the implementation and effectiveness of these actions Develop and conduct risk assessments of the supply base according to changing business conditions. Create and manage risk mitigation plans to reduce overall supply chain risks. Manage change requests from suppliers to ensure proper testing, qualification, and customer requirements are met, and to reduce risk Initiate and lead key supplier development initiatives with Procurement or plants. Work directly with suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality and delivery performance, implement process management, and ensure stable supply Lead sourcing activitiesLead work transfers (outsourcing or re-sourcing) activities to ensure success and that all quality requirements are met. Support supply chain management profit plan by assuring supplier quality, PPAP, and APQP process in cost down projects. Maintain product integrity by ensuring parts provided to manufacturing meet quality standards for engineering/customer specifications.Source inspection of in-process and final acceptance of Supplier hardware. Organize Monthly Business Review with the Key Suppliers of each location in order to improve the results and identified savingsBusiness Competency:
