Essential Responsibilities:
Ensure that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications and applicable building codes and that efficiency in labour and materials maintain high quality standardsEnsure that site safety measures meet or exceed the parameters set out by corporate safety manual, Workers’ Compensation Board or any other authoritiesReview, maintain and update the construction schedule and ensure milestone and completion dates are metOversee the care and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment on the project to maximize use while on the job site, plan ahead for equipment requirements in conjunction with other superintendents and the Construction Manager, and update equipment log as required Review subtrade/supplier invoices against the field purchase orders and report any discrepancies to the Project Manager or the accounting departmentHire and manage hourly employees as required to complete the project in consultation with the Construction/Project Managers and maintain, approve and submit hourly time cards with all necessary details for job costing purposesPrepare field change orders to be signed by project owner or representative when requestedWork with coordinators/engineers to craft and submit RFI’s as required for clarification of scopesDevelop and implement resource loaded 3 week/90 day look ahead schedules that meet the overall Project scheduleQualifications:
3 to 8 years construction supervision experience (preferably working on infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, water/wastewater treatment plants etc.)Combination of work experience in a similar role and industry related trade certification / educationSolid understanding of modern construction practicesAbility to plan and manage to a project scheduleUnderstanding of construction documents and the ability to ensure that they are complete, protect the owner’s interest, clearly define expectations and provide incentive to performContract negotiation/management skillsKnowledge of construction costs and budgetsA strong safety record and the ability to work with a variety of individualsCapacity to understand and interpret stakeholder needs and identify solutions to non-routine tasks or queriesAbility to adapt information and communication style to the audienceSkilled at promoting teamwork to establish consensus among team and stakeholdersCapable of identifying key issues and patterns in moderately complex situations and spotting new, less obvious solutionsAbility to work and collaborate with third party engineers on temporary works designsAbility to identify and resolve any problems that may ariseWork Conditions:
