WSP USA is proud to support transitioning service members through the Department of Defense SkillBridge program. As part of this program, we are currently offering an opportunity for **Bridge Inspection Technician in Training** .
We offer a structured, 3-year career development pathway for veterans to enter the transportation infrastructure field as Bridge Inspection Technicians. This unique opportunity combines in-field experience, virtual instruction, and professional mentorship. Participants will gain critical technical and leadership skills that prepare them for a long-term civilian career with WSP.

Your Impact
Key Responsibilities:
1. Bridge Inspection & Technical Training
2. Assist with inspections of bridges and related structures using industry-standard equipment and technology.
3. Apply foundational knowledge in bridge types, structural components, and inspection methodologies.
4. Develop familiarity with reading bridge plans, evaluating materials conditions, and understanding load and safety requirements.
5. Field Work & Hands-On Experience
6. Work on-site with senior inspectors to conduct assessments of concrete, steel, and timber structures.
7. Learn essential field techniques such as sketching, measurements, and using site plans.
8. Gain experience in working at heights, over water, and in various environmental conditions with appropriate PPE.
9. Safety & Compliance
10. Follow OSHA and company safety protocols, including first aid procedures and traffic control guidelines.
11. Use Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe work environment.
12. Teamwork & Communication
13. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and learn from experienced professionals.
14. Develop your leadership and communication skills in real-world scenarios.
15. Assist in documenting inspection findings and contributing to formal reports.

17. Engage in structured virtual learning modules covering:
18. Bridge Inspection Manuals & Standards
19. Load Rating Software (Virtis)
20. Principles of Structural Engineering
21. Project Management Fundamentals
22. Reporting & Documentation:
23. Assist in preparing Inspection Reports, documenting findings, and ensuring all findings are clearly communicated using Report Information and Bridge Inspection Manuals.
24. Utilize Measuring Devices and other field data collection tools to record accurate information during inspections.
Internship Program Details:
+ Initial Internship Duration: 90 Days of intensive instruction
+ Continued Development: 15 months of on-the-job training
+ Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:40 PM
+ Delivery: Combination of classroom, virtual, and field-based instruction
+ Outcome: Eligibility for full-time employment as a Bridge Inspection Technician

Who You Are
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Active-duty U.S military service member eligible for SkillBridge participation
+ High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in civil engineering or technical fields preferred
+ Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
+ Ability to perform physically demanding work (climbing, carrying tools and step ladders, confined spaces, inclement weather)
+ Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or B.S in Civil Engineering
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CAD or drafting software
+ Previous experience in construction Skills and ability to work in a team environment
**Compensation**
+ SkillBridge Internship Period: Active-Duty Military pay, and benefits continue via the Department of Defense
