What you’ll be challenged to do:

The successful candidate shall have a minimum of 3 years of progressive design experience in bridge and structural engineering.  Experience should consist of bridge analysis and in the development of all aspects of bridge plans. The candidate should also possess good technical and communication skills.  The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day execution of assigned projects. 

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Designing structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and transportation related structuresDeveloping details of bridge components for contract drawingsCalculating quantities and developing construction cost estimatesReview of shop drawingsAssisting bridge inspections and preparation of inspection reportsPerforming load ratingsParticipating in project meetings with clientsCoordination with team members to meet project quality standards and milestone deadlinesRepresenting GFT at industry and professional events. What you will bring to our firm: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.3+ years of bridge engineering and/or inspection required.What we prefer you bring: Understanding of structural design principles for steel, reinforced, and/or prestressed concrete requiredKnowledge of and experience using MicroStation and Microsoft Office is requiredExperience using structural design and analysis software such as LARS (load ratings) Merlin-DASH, Open Bridge Designer (LEAP Steel and Concrete), STAAD, and/or L-Pile preferred.Experience with various design codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, NDS, etc. preferred.Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills along with strong organization and time management skillsAbility to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentActively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.Compensation:The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $110,000.
