Responsibilities NONAPPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Bowling Center Manager BUSINESS TITLE: Bowling Program Manager FLSA: Exempt JOB SERIES: 1101 PAY LEVEL: NF-04 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent is responsible for the supervision and managerial control of six (6) geographically dispersed bowling and reports to the Director, Retail Operation. Provides administrative and technical guidance to associate bowling management personnel. Develops, plans, and administers overall program plans and procedures, program requirements, maintenance conditions and related bowling activities. Formulates comprehensive operating and capital budgets to support on-going programs and capital improvements. Oversees the development and consolidation of budget proposals submitted by bowling facility managers. Evaluates bowling program management, operating costs, and maintenance requirements; prepares statistical data; develops information that includes current expenditures and estimates of future costs based on the specific social and recreational programs to be maintained, modified, or curtailed; and develops substantive justifications to support program modifications and related budget proposals. Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities of six full-time facility managers, a league coordinator, and a technical maintenance foreman. Anticipates and fills staff vacancies; interviews and selects key personnel; approves and disapproves leave requests; counsel¿s employees; evaluates employee job performance; and resolves minor grievances. Recommend training and/or cross-training for junior employees whenever possible. Ensures development and implementation of an effective maintenance program for two complex and dissimilar bowling pinspotter systems, two dissimilar lane surfaces, and several bowling facilities of widely varying age and condition. Oversees the phase-in and/or major rehabilitation of bowling centers. Provides upper management with recommendations as to the type of equipment to purchase, setting and bowling center layout, furniture selection and ancillary services offered. Initiate studies and surveys to determine program efficiency. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Ensures facilities comply with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions, and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with ¿Return To Work¿ program initiatives, and following up on employee well being. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of two years' experience that demonstrates administrative knowledge of and application of bowling, bowling equipment and facilities, or other recreational sports that incorporate professional league rules. Experience in managing operation of recreational or sports related or related program. Comprehensive knowledge of Marine Corps and DoD component Bowling Facility management regulations and NAF policy preferred. Knowledge of commonly accepted business practices as they pertain to program planning, budget formulation, and efficient resource utilization. Ability to efficiently manage the Bowling Program to include operation of the facilities, supervision of personnel, equipment and facility maintenance, retail sales, and equipment and property management and supply inventory.
