Bookkeeper
Description We are looking for a skilled and organized Bookkeeper to join our team in Ashland, Virginia. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in bookkeeping, tax preparation, and financial management who thrives in a collaborative environment. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting tax compliance, and delivering high-quality service to our clients. Responsibilities: • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy and completeness. • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including timely preparation of financial reports. • Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and small businesses. • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring clarity and accuracy. • Provide payroll support, including processing tax withholdings, disbursements, and related journal entries. • Prepare necessary documentation and reports for audits and client reviews. • Conduct research on tax regulations and evaluate their impact on client accounts. • Utilize bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks to manage financial data efficiently. • Collaborate with clients to address their bookkeeping and tax-related needs. • Monitor compliance with tax laws and regulations, providing recommendations for improvements. Requirements • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accounting or financial services firm. • Proficiency in bookkeeping software, including QuickBooks (desktop and online) and tax software such as ProConnect, Lacerte, or Drake. • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel, including analytical and reconciliation capabilities. • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, particularly those affecting small businesses. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work successfully with clients and team members. • Certifications such as CPA or EA are a plus but not required.
