Summary: 
The Boiler Operator is responsible and accountable for plant utilities including boilers, wastewater treatment, cooling towers, compressed air, and nitrogen production. The operator is responsible for communicating critical information concerning safety & environmental compliance, security, and operational issues to the Shift Supervisor/Foreman. Operators will be working rotating shifts and will also be responsible for performing routine maintenance and inspections in areas of responsibility 
 
Shift: Rotating (swing shift, weekends, and holidays) 
 
Job Qualifications: 

1st or 3rd class Steam Operating Engineer License from Shelby County or must be able to obtain license within 6 months of being hired High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or additional education is beneficial 1 – 3 years in boiler operations or maintenance experience preferred Basic math skills and reading comprehension Ability to read and follow various processes Self-Starter with the ability to prioritize tasks 

Principal Duties And Responsibilities: 

Understand and comply with all workplace health & safety requirements, ADM policies/procedures, and work place rules Ownership mentality for the assigned systems and plant areas Perform safe, controlled startup and shutdown of boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, membrane filtration systems, etc.  Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems on boilers, pumps, valves, controls, etc.  Work with engineering teams to develop solutions and improve optimization Ability to pull water samples, test water chemistry, and adjust chemical dosage for water treatment  Daily chemical inventory monitoring and regular involvement with water treatment vendor Consistently monitor the daily operations of the boilers, document accurate and legible records via paper logs and/or digital databases  Operation of water treatment equipment including water softeners and membrane filters Must safely perform routine maintenance, inspections, and LOTO of equipment Works independently with minimal supervision Read and understand process documentation, SOPs, and technical instructions Perform daily inspections of the equipment and the surroundings Report safety near misses and equipment issues in a timely fashion Scheduled cleaning-in-place procedures and truck loadout for wastewater system Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights Must complete housekeeping assignments as required All other duties as assigned Forklift operating experience is beneficial, but not required 

Employee must possess: 

The ability to conduct essential physical work as per requirements Be capable of reading letters and numbers and have good color perception Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds chest-high Sitting/Standing/Climbing: Standing for 12 hours daily and moving up and down stairs
