Job Description

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. You are required to perform any other duties reasonably required to support resort operations, as assigned by the Head of Department, consistent with the nature of the position and applicable company policies. NH Maldives Kuda Rah employees always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their colleagues. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

Transfers & Boat Operations

Assist the Boat Captain in reviewing daily transfer and excursion schedules, including guest names, passenger numbers, luggage requirements, and special requests.Prepare and set up the vessel for scheduled transfers and excursions according to operational procedures and weather conditions.Ensure umbrellas, towels, and protective coverings are available on board during rainy weather.Assist in preparing the vessel and ensuring it is ready and positioned at the guest jetty at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure times.Support the Boat Captain during operations to ensure safe, smooth, and comfortable transfers for guests.Assist guests with embarkation, disembarkation, and luggage handling when required.Ensure guest comfort during transfers by providing assistance, directions, and general support throughout the journey.Coordinate meal arrangements with the Front Office Manager if duty schedules or trips result in missed meals.

Boat Maintenance & Safety

Assist the Boat Captain in ensuring vessels operate in compliance with Maldives maritime laws and regulations set by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.Assist with routine inspections of the vessel, engine, safety equipment, and navigation lights before and after each trip.Maintain cleanliness of the boat and all equipment to ensure a safe and presentable environment for guests.Immediately report any technical issues, maintenance concerns, or safety risks to the Boat Captain or Front Office Manager.Assist with routine maintenance work together with the Engineering Department when required.Ensure life jackets, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, communication equipment, and other emergency equipment are properly stored, accessible, and in working condition.Take precautionary measures to prevent safety hazards, including checking for fuel leaks, loose equipment, or unsafe conditions on board.Assist in maintaining navigation lights, anchoring equipment, and other marine operational equipment.Always prioritize guest and crew safety during all boat operations.

Guest Service, Communication & Reporting

Maintain clear communication with the Boat Captain and Front Office team regarding transfer schedules, guest arrivals, departures, and operational updates.Provide friendly and professional assistance to guests, answering questions and ensuring a pleasant transfer experience.Report any guest concerns, incidents, or unusual situations to the Boat Captain or Front Office Manager.Assist in handling guest luggage and ensuring it is safely loaded and unloaded.Support the Boat Captain in maintaining smooth operations during transfers and excursions.Assist with incident reporting if any safety or operational issues occur during trips.

General & Professional Responsibilities

Follow instructions and operational guidance from the Boat Captain and Front Office Manager at all times.Maintain professional conduct, discipline, and teamwork while working on board.Uphold the resort’s safety, service, and environmental standards, including responsible fuel usage and marine conservation practices.Participate in safety drills, emergency response training, and departmental briefings when required.Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready vessel environment at all times.Perform any other reasonable duties related to marine operations as assigned by Management.

QualificationsValid Maldives National Boating License issued by the relevant authority (for operating resort boats) will be added advantageBasic Safety Training or equivalent maritime safety certification.Valid First Aid and CPR certification.Minimum 2–3 years of experience in boat handling or marine operations, preferably in a resort, watersports centre, or marine transport environment.Good knowledge of lagoon navigation, reef areas, and marine safety procedures in the Maldives.Ability to communicate in basic English to assist with guest transfers and excursions.Physically fit and able to work in marine conditions.Must currently hold the role applying for.Should have qualifications matching the position applied for.Trackable references must be available to support the role applied for.
