The Boar Stud Manager directly manages a team of farm employees and ensures they are working effectively and efficiently. This position will coordinate employees into a highly effective team, to produce consistent, high quality semen doses.  JBS offers a competitive pay, benefits package, 401K, and bonus opportunities!Essential Responsibilities:(Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of Functions) Builds, leads, and trains successful team members to carry out assigned tasksComplies with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS)Ensure animals are being cared for daily, including water, feed and managementSets short and long-term goals for semen quality and production.Assists in controlling costs associated with feed, supplies, and laborMaintain accurate records and reports.Coordinates and oversees completion of special projects.Make recommendations for operational improvements.Conducts safety-training meetings and ensures employees are working safely.Performs general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment.Maintains open line of communication with all team members including upper management.Comply with biosecurity requirements to safeguard the life and health of the animals.Ensures welfare of animals.Assists with other duties as assigned.     Required Qualifications:Must not own or live near any swine.  Must not live with anyone who has contact with swine.AS in Animal Sciences  Or In lieu of Associate degree in Animal Science            3 years’ boar stud experience or 5 years’ swine experience Minimum of 1-year people management experiencePush and/or pull a minimum of 700 lbs. in a cart with wheels when required.  Be able to move, load and unload animals up to 750 pounds.Be able to lift and move 50lbs up to 100 yards.  Be able to understand, retain and perform oral and written instructions in English.Able to communicate orally and in writing with other employees and company contactsProficient computer skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, Work and Office – email) Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independentlyAbility to effectively lead a teamTeam oriented, self-motivated, positive, strong work ethicsValid Driver’s LicenseAbility to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environmentAbility to move, walk, stand, bend, stoop, reach, and kneel for prolonged periods of time on different surfaces including concrete and slats. Climb different types of ladders including feed bin ladders.Strong communication and listening skills Preferred Qualifications B.S. in Animal Science or other related fields.Familiarity with common swine diseases and medicationsThe ideal candidate will reside in the local area.   Working Conditions:During summer months outside temperatures can be over 100° F for an entire scheduled workday.During winter months outside temperatures can be below 32° F for an entire scheduled workday.During different job duties, the noise inside or outside barns can become very loud.  Will be exposed daily to odors, dusts and gases that may be uncomfortable or hazardous if proper procedures are not followed.Will be exposed to electrical boxes and electrical machinery that are not to be entered or repaired by those who are not certified in basic electrical training and/or lock out tag out.
