Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.Performs repair, calibration, preventive maintenance, inspection, and installation of a diverse range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and physiological monitoring equipment and systems used in direct patient care, including high risk and life support equipment.Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, illustrated parts drawings, and flow charts of biomedical instrumentation.Have basic knowledge of how to identify and troubleshoot Local Area Network, (LAN) components.Monitor completion of preventive maintenance activities performed by outside vendors and third-party vendors.Schedule and oversee vendor and third-party repairs as necessary.Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.Maintain accurate inventory, tracking both the addition and deactivation of clinical equipment.Maintain accurate and timely documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.Understand and comply with Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations.Must have a valid drivers license in order to be able to provide service to all TUKHS Biomedical Engineering Department customers.Provide in-service educational programs to clinical staff as needed.Provide technical assistance and instruction on equipment operation to medical staff as needed.Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
