Compensation: $18.54 - $20.60 CAD hourly
The Applications & Systems (A&S) group within Veolia Water Tech's Research & Development department is seeking a motivated intern in their 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences or a related field.
This internship offers hands-on experience with wastewater and drinking water treatment applications, including MABR (Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor), MBR (Membrane Bioreactor), and biological products and processes. The successful candidate will gain exposure to applied research spanning diverse topics such as suspended/biofilm biological morphology, ultrafiltration membranes, and the application of artificial intelligence in wastewater treatment.
The intern will work collaboratively with pilot operators, laboratory assistants, and researchers.
Key Responsibilities
Learn about AI applications in wastewater treatment by:
Engaging with ongoing research projects
Assisting with data collection and processing
Support data collection, dashboard development, and laboratory sample analysis for sites across NAM
Contribute to administrative tasks, including compiling educational materials for new team members
Provide support for laboratory analyses at the Oakville lab or Guelph pilot facility
Qualifications & Requirements
Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field
Strong interest in water treatment technologies, including drinking water and wastewater applications
Working Conditions
Full-time position based at Veolia's Oakville office, following Veolia NAM workplace policies
Occasional work required at the Guelph pilot facility
Potential travel to sites within NAM as needed
