The Office of Wildlife exists to provide wise stewardship of Louisiana's wildlife and associated habitats and increase wildlife conservation awareness. BIOLOGIST DIRECTOR / WILDIFE ADMINISTRATION This position serves as the assistant to the division's biologist administrator and is responsible for administration of the division's land stewardship operations, including budget, the oversight of all personnel actions including performance, compliance, hiring, personnel status and disciplinary recommendations, compliance with federal, state and local mandates and policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Five years of the required experience for the following minimum qualification must have been at the DCL level, supervisory level or above: A bachelor’s degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources plus nine years of experience in wildlife or fisheries, forestry, or environmental science; OR A non-thesis master's degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources plus eight years of the required specialized experience; OR A master's degree with a completed thesis or a doctorate in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources plus seven years of the required specialized experience. Job Duties and Other Information JOB DUTIES + This position is with The Wildlife Division, which has the broad mission of stewardship of Louisiana's wildlife resources and wildlife habitat, has an annual operating budget exceeding $21 million and stewardship responsibility for managing in excess of 1.500,000 acres of owned and leased public lands. + The position directly supervises four biologist program managers in the Farm Bill, Forestry, Private Lands and WMA/Refuge programs. + This position may serve in certain areas of responsibility as the functional administrator in the absence of the biologist division administrator. Statewide overnight travel is required. POSITION- SPECIFIC DETAILS: Location: This position is domiciled in East Baton Rouge Parish. Appointment Type: Promotional.
