BIOLOGIST 1-3 – SHOOTING SPORTS/ SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA This position is responsible for the delivery of LDWF Shooting Sports programs, firearms safety and use trainings, and assists in operations and maintenance of a public shooting range in assigned area. Incumbent presents basic to advanced educational programs to the public on firearm skills, safety, and shooting sports including Archery in Louisiana Schools (ALAS). In addition, recruits, trains, and coordinates a network of volunteer shooting sports instructors and range safety officers to offer related public programs. Participates in statewide LDWF educational events. May be assigned supervisory duties over one WLF technician. Frequent night and weekend work is required. Job Duties and Other Information JOB DUTIES Biologist position to deliver Shooting Sports programs in Southeast LA This Biologist position is responsible for the delivery of shooting sports programs, firearm trainings, and oversight over one public shooting range in assigned area. This position coordinates and presents educational programs to the public on shooting skills, firearm safety, and shooting sports including Archery in Louisiana Schools (ALAS). In addition, this position recruits, trains, and coordinates a network of volunteer shooting sports instructors and range safety officers to offer related public programs, and participates in statewide LDWF educational events. Physical demands include lifting items and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequent night and weekend work is required.
