Bioinformatics Intern

Role Overview:

The intern will collaborate with multiple teams to curate bioinformatics tools and pre-existing biological predictive models that support the development of new enzymes and aptamers. They will investigate and fine-tune community AI models for use in oligonucleotide and protein design. They will communicate with Enzyme Development personnel, identifying areas of computational need, and test computational methods to enhance the enzyme development processes.

Daily activities include reading research papers, attending meetings with other R&D personnel, implementing and exploring model usage, and software testing/development.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Analyze and interpret scientific data (including next generation sequencing data)Develop novel algorithms contribute to IDT product developmentCommunicate results with the Bioinformatics and wet-bench scientific teams

The essential requirements of the job include:

Knowledge of Python or related programming languagesPursuing a BS or MS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science or related field (Required). Must be a rising senior undergrad or first year MS

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Ph.D. degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, or related field (Preferred)Knowledge of deep learning neural networks, biological systems, and/ or biochemistry

The hourly range for this role is $25 - $30. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
