Position in the Organization Chart Reports to the Biodiversity Manager (N+1) and Environment & Biodiversity Manager (N+2) Direct reports (N?1): N/A Key relationships: Biodiversity Field Officers, Biodiversity Officer(s) Job DimensionsResidential position based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The role will initially focus on supporting the management and finalisation of key biodiversity documentation, including:
Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Strategy (BESS) Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Action Plan (BESAP) Biodiversity Monitoring and Evaluation Plan (BMEP) Biodiversity Offset Strategy (BOS) Biodiversity Offset Monitoring Plan (BOMP)The role will later support planning and implementation of monitoring programs, ongoing studies, and periodic updates of biodiversity documentation, management plans, and procedures.

Actively participate in company safety awareness initiatives. Key Activities Support finalisation of the BESS, BESAP, BMEP, BOS, BOMP, and associated biodiversity documentation. Assist in developing additional management plans as required under the BESAP. Support development of biodiversity protocols and procedures under the Operator’s Environment and Social Management System. Assist with implementation of biodiversity monitoring programs. Draft Scopes of Work for biodiversity?related studies. Support capacity?building and institutional strengthening programs. Ensure timely and accurate internal and external biodiversity reporting. Support reviews and updates of biodiversity plans, procedures, and programs. Engage internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective execution of biodiversity actions. Support development of the Biodiversity Stakeholder Engagement Plan (B?SEP). Support preparation and implementation of biodiversity communications (internal and external). Support ecosystem services community engagement and resource mapping, including field reporting. Coordinate lender monitoring activities, including IESC site visits and reporting. Ensure biodiversity program compliance with lender requirements (IFC Performance Standard 6) and Operator standards. Manage biodiversity?related data, reporting, and documentation. Provide technical input to Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs). Support biodiversity training needs assessments and delivery. Provide technical expertise on application of IFC Performance Standard 6 (PS6). Context & Environment The role supports a major LNG development project in Papua New Guinea, financed by international lenders including the IFC and World Bank. The project is subject to IFC Performance Standards, particularly PS6 on Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Management of Living Natural Resources. The Biodiversity Coordinator will support efforts to achieve measurable Biodiversity Net Gain in line with international best practice and lender requirements. The operating environment presents high challenges relating to biodiversity sensitivity, community engagement, and regulatory compliance. Accountabilities Support project compliance with IFC PS6 requirements. Ensure environmental management systems are adhered to in the preparation of biodiversity documentation. Identify compliance gaps and support development of corrective action plans. Required Qualifications & Experience Expertise in environmental and/or biodiversity disciplines. Advanced knowledge of IFC Performance Standards or similar frameworks. Degree in Conservation Science, Ecology, Biology, Forestry, Zoology, Botany, Wildlife Science, Marine or Environmental Science/Engineering (or equivalent). 7–10 years of relevant experience, particularly in biodiversity documentation aligned with IFC PS6. Strong problem?solving, organisational, and prioritisation skills. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
