Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team. The individual will play a crucial role in maintaining communication with internal departments and external entities to ensure accurate and timely billing and cash management. This role involves working closely with accounting, project management, and purchasing departments to resolve billing issues and support compliance reviews and audits.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain communication with internal departments and external entities to resolve billing and accounting issues.
+ Coordinate with government paying offices and commercial customers to ensure timely payment of invoices.
+ Support compliance reviews, Sarbanes-Oxley activities, and Defense Contract Audit Agency audits.
+ Ensure invoices are submitted accurately and in accordance with contract terms.
+ Manage the accounts receivable cycle and support daily, weekly, and monthly accounting functions.
+ Perform all billing functions, including preparation, review, and submission of invoices.
+ Review and maintain contract terms and conditions for customer invoices.
+ Reconcile assigned billings to the Accounts Receivable general ledger accounts.
+ Identify opportunities for process and procedure improvements for efficiency.
+ Maintain and update approved billing rates and dry docking days.
+ Monitor billing cycles and accounts receivable aging, working with customers to shorten cycle times and collect outstanding invoices.
+ Assist managers, accounting staff, and auditors in researching accounting and billing issues.
+ Maintain projects booked to billed reconciliations.
+ Review all contracts to ensure compliance in billings.
+ Coordinate and review all accounts receivable documentation.
+ Assist with contract closeouts and maintain accounts receivable metrics.
+ Prepare schedules for annual Incurred Cost Submissions.
+ Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ True billing experience, preferably in a government contracting environment.
+ Attention to detail for line-item billing and high-volume review.
+ Experience with accounts receivable, government billing, and invoicing.
+ Familiarity with CVN billing and purchase orders.
+ Proficiency in reconciliation of labor hours, material costs, subcontractor invoices, overhead, and G&A expenses.
+ Experience with Costpoint is preferred.
+ Strong organizational skills to maintain electronic files in accordance with document retention policies and security requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with government billing/WAWF.
+ SOX experience.
+ Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and vlookups.
+ Hands-on experience required; not entry-level, but not overly senior.
Work Environment
The position is 100% on-site, Monday to Friday, from 7 AM to 4 PM. It offers the potential to transition from a contract to a permanent role with a large local employer in the ship repair industry, typically after 12 months, although earlier conversion is possible.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
