Benefits Specialist
Job Description We are seeking a proactive and employee-focused Benefits Specialist to join the growing Total Rewards team at Deriva Energy. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-first environment and has a strong foundation in benefits administration. You’ll be the first point of contact for employee inquiries, helping them navigate everything from disability leave to 401(k) plans, while supporting the transition to a new ticketing system and assisting with light reporting and audits. Skills and Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in benefits coordination or Total Rewards  • Strong understanding of short-term vs. long-term disability, FMLA, and qualifying life events  • Experience with Workday (required); familiarity with Vanguard (401k), Benepass (HSA), Cigna (healthcare), and commuter programs  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable in employee-facing roles  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with precision Strong customer service mindset and attention to detail Key Responsibilities:  • Respond to employee questions regarding health benefits, disability coverage, FMLA, 401(k), and other Total Rewards offerings  • Provide guidance on qualifying life events and changes outside of open enrollment  • Communicate with employees via email and phone to resolve benefit-related issues  • Perform light reporting and audit tasks, including reconciling 401(k) contributions with Vanguard reports  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with FMLA and other regulatory requirements  • Assist in transitioning benefits operations to ServiceNow  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate benefits administration
