Benefits Specialist
Description We are looking for a Benefits Specialist to join our Agriculture-focused team in Vista, California, on a contract basis. This position requires someone who can effectively manage benefits programs, ensure compliance, and provide detailed reporting to support employee needs and organizational goals. Responsibilities: • Coordinate and oversee the administration of various employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k), for a workforce of approximately 1,000 employees across multiple states. • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures while addressing risk mitigation related to benefits management. • Handle employee leave of absence requests with precision, particularly for cases involving transitions or exits. • Utilize Excel to generate reports, audit payroll invoices, and analyze data to ensure accuracy in benefits records. • Support the ongoing 401(k) audit by preparing required documentation and maintaining smooth operations. • Collaborate across different jurisdictions to address state-specific labor laws and benefits regulations. • Communicate effectively with employees, with Spanish fluency considered a plus for engaging with Spanish-speaking team members. Requirements • Proven experience in benefits administration, preferably for a workforce distributed across multiple states. • Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis, report creation, and auditing purposes. • Familiarity with 401(k) plans and audits, including related documentation and compliance measures. • Knowledge of HR compliance regulations, particularly in relation to benefits programs. • Ability to manage leave of absence processes with accuracy and attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills, with Spanish fluency being an added advantage. • Demonstrated ability to navigate and apply state-specific labor laws and benefits requirements.
