Job Description

As a Benefits Representative, you will provide comprehensive benefits-related research and information to faculty, staff, and retirees. This role requires a strong understanding of university benefit plans, programs, and policies, including health and welfare plans, employee and dependent eligibility, and enrollment processes.

ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day benefits-related research and information to faculty, staff, and retirees.Review and approve faculty and staff enrollments in Health & Welfare Plans online, ensuring required documentation is received.Respond to client inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely and courteous resolution of benefits-related issues.Act as a liaison with university employees and external benefits contacts to resolve eligibility, claims, and enrollment issues.Review and triage all assigned reports.Utilize internal and external databases to cross-reference inquiries and determine resolutions.Maintain standards of customer service as outlined for the team.Demonstrate proficiency in software applications, such as spreadsheets, word processing, and graphics packages, for data and report management.Apply a working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations affecting benefits.Attend designated training programs, seminars, and meetings.Serve on workgroups and committees, as requested.Perform special duties and projects as needed.Handle confidential information appropriately.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsCustomer service expertise.HR benefits knowledge.Experience with customer service call centers.Understanding of open enrollment processes.Proficiency in Workday and customer support.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of two years of benefits-related experience.Additional education may substitute for required experience, as permitted by equivalency formulas.Work Environment

This is a hybrid work environment, requiring on-site presence for 2 days at 1101 E 33rd Street, Baltimore, MD, and remote work for 3 days. The position offers potential to become permanent based on internal headcount and approval.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
