Benefits Coordinator | Hybrid in Alexandria, VA | Pay: 55k - 60k/yr | 6-month contract-to-hire
Job Description
As a Benefits Coordinator, you will coordinate the daily benefits processing related to enrollments, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, and disability, accident, and death claims.
Responsibilities
+ Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.
+ Process and track FMLA and ADA related claims for assigned areas and assist with ongoing FMLA/ADA training of managers.
+ Prepare offer letters and run background checks for store managers.
+ Act as the employment and wage verification coordinator, working with others in HR to ensure timely completion of wage and employment verification requests.
+ Assist with maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.
+ Distribute summary plan descriptions, materials for new hire orientations, and open enrollment.
+ Manage several complex projects simultaneously while working to meet deadlines.
+ Communicate effectively with co-workers and store employees regarding company policies and procedures related to benefit programs.
+ Act as unemployment claim coordinator by gathering information and preparing paperwork for unemployment responses and hearings, and assisting the HR Generalist with preparation for unemployment hearings.
+ Process employee terminations and new hires as it relates to benefit enrollment.
+ Maintain benefits related filing system.
+ Responsible for monthly ACA compliance mailing and email notifications to FGO newly eligible population.
Essential Skills
+ Open enrollment knowledge.
+ FMLA and benefits processing expertise.
+ Experience in benefit verification.
+ High School Diploma or GED is required.
+ Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Worker’s Compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements.
+ Three+ years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ College degree in HR related field is preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of Affordable Care Act legislation is preferred.
+ Project and team management/leadership skills and experience are preferred.
+ Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role requiring three days in-office.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lorton, Virginia
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $60000.00/hr.
