About the Role
We’re looking for a detail‑driven, analytical Pharmacy Benefit Configuration Specialist to support the accurate setup, testing, and maintenance of pharmacy, formulary, and benefit designs. This role is critical to ensuring claims adjudication runs flawlessly, client requirements are met, and members receive the experience they expect.
If you enjoy solving complex problems, navigating system logic, and building solutions that directly improve customer experience, this role is an excellent fit.
What You’ll Do
Configure Benefits & Claims Logic
+ Apply pharmacy, formulary, and benefit rules to implement client‑requested plan changes
+ Ensure all configuration updates meet assigned deadlines
+ Troubleshoot and research basic claims adjudication issues to identify root causes and solutions
Master System Logic
+ Gain a thorough understanding of system logic, constraints, coding tables, and the linking of plan–group–pharmacy carrier benefits
+ Evaluate how benefit designs will adjudicate and ensure configurations align with the intended client outcome
Deliver High‑Quality Client Outcomes
+ Collaborate with internal partners to clarify business requirements and translate them into accurate system configuration
+ Ensure every change request is fully documented, tested, communicated, and delivered without errors
+ Use standardized methodologies to prevent unnecessary complexity or inefficient system structures
Test, Validate & Document
+ Review results of in‑unit testing to confirm accuracy of new configurations
+ Assist in maintaining detailed documentation of client benefit designs, adjudication hierarchies, edits, restrictions, carriers, and configuration best practices
Plan, Organize & Execute
+ Leverage project planning and prioritization skills to ensure timely deliverables
+ Maintain a high level of quality and consistency to support precise claims adjudication
+ Support client needs with prompt communication around service issues or configuration changes
What You Bring
+ Strong problem‑solving and research abilities
+ High attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex written, verbal, and diagram‑based instructions
+ Ability to apply mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions) to real‑world benefit scenarios
+ Analytical mindset with excellent time‑management and organizational skills
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write documentation and present information to teams or clients
+ Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with peers and internal partners
+ Accountability, reliability, and commitment to service excellence
Why This Role Matters
This position directly supports business needs driven by:
+ Client growth
+ Regulatory and industry changes
+ Team expansion due to internal attrition
You will help ensure that customers, members, and internal teams can rely on accurate, timely, and well‑maintained benefit configurations—ultimately impacting claims accuracy and client satisfaction.
Employee Value Proposition
+ Consistent weekday schedule with no weekends or holidays
+ Collaborative, supportive team environment
