General Summary:This position is responsible for validating the policy and benefit information on all IDI new claims and on existing claims as needed. This position requires that incumbents be able to independently research, obtain and verify information as well as accurately input information into templates and various claim systems. The incumbent also needs to maintain high standards of quality despite pressing deadlines.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Develop familiarities with various policy and claim systems in order to appropriately determine the type of benefits and applicable provisions that are in effect as of the date of disability.Understand what information and tools should be used to identify coverage information in effect and use the information and tools to validate coverage details.Understand claim systems in order to validate that the correct coverage information has been data entered correctly.Review and ensure the accuracy of the coverage information coded in the claim payment systems.Research ambiguous information utilizing appropriate tools and resources in order to ensure accurate interpretation of applicable coverage.Use judgment in determining when available information is ambiguous and unclear and does not support the ability to validate coverage to the requisite level of certainty.Process Benefit verification requests within the established timeframes.Correctly and accurately document information according to the established guidelines and procedures. Complete Benefit verification requests with a high degree of accuracy and quality.Ensure that documentation regarding various contacts and tools related to how to obtain policy and coverage information is kept up to date.Provide assistance and support to team members to address their knowledge needs and to ensure consistency in execution and completion of verification requests.Assist with training new team members or existing team members as needed.May perform other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$36,000.00-$68,000.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
